Oats Chicken Nuggets


Chicken Nuggets are the go to snacks for many chicken lovers just like me. This recipe gives a healthy twist to the traditional chicken nuggets with the coating of nutritious Oats. To make things healthier these nuggets are baked in oven with a small sprinkle of oil which is a low calorie getaway from the regular deep fried version. So without further ado, let's start cooking one of our favourite appetizers. Here we go..

PREPARATION TIME : 60 to 90 Mins

CALORIES : 450 cal

SERVES : 3 - 4

INGREDIENTS : 

For Marination :  
  1. Lemon Juice - 2 tbs 
  2. Red Paprika - 2 tbs
  3. Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbs 
  4. Oregano - 1 tbs 
  5. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbs 
  6. Black Pepper Powder - 1 tbs 
  7. White Pepper Powder - 1 tbs 
  8.  Salt - as per taste 

Major Ingredients :

  1. Boneless Chicken - 500 gms 
  2. Masala Oats - 200 gms ( for coating )  
  3. Refined Flour - ( for dusting )
  4. Egg - 2 ( for dip )
  5. Refined Oil - 2 tbs

STEPS FOR PREPARATION :

  • Cut the chicken into medium to small pieces and put them in a bowl.

  • Marination - Mix the chicken with lemon juice, red paprika, ginger garlic paste, oregano, turmeric powder, black pepper powder, white pepper powder and salt. Keep it aside for 30 mins.

  • Take three bowls and add below ingredients to them.

      • Bowl 1 : Refined Flour
      • Bowl 2 : Mix Beaten Egg, pinch turmeric powder and salt
      • Bowl 3 : Masala Oats



  • Take one piece of chicken and first dust it with maida, next dip the dusted chicken in the beaten egg mix and finally coat it with masala oats. Repeat the method for all other marinated pieces. After completion, the raw nuggets should look something as shown in the below image.


  • Keep the coated nuggets in refrigerator for 10 to 15 mins.

  • By that time, preheat the oven at 150 degree celsius for 10 mins.

  • Take a baking tray and brush it with refined oil (Olive oil can also be used as a replacement to make it more healthier).

  • Arrange the coated nuggets in the baking tray and brush some oil over the chicken as well.

  • Place the baking tray in the oven and bake it at 150 degree for 25 to 30 mins.



  • Carefully take out the tray and place the cooked nuggets on a plate.



  • And there you go....enjoy the deliciously healthy nuggets with a dip of your favourite sauce.
Note : 
In case you do not have an oven, you can shallow fry the raw coated nuggets in a pan with refined or olive oil.
